This file is a sampling of the work students completed in Mrs. Shockey's Honors 10 English class during the spring of 2020. We read Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights, and began a pre-IB assignment, which is to reflect on the work in a Portfolio fashion.
The "right sides" of the Portfolio are given by the teacher, and the students follow a general format. The "left sides" are up to the student, and they can pursue research, poetry connections, art ideas, dialogue, group discussions, notes or outlines, or anything else that their minds can dream up.
Some of the work was finished prior to the Pandemic and the forced release from school. Much of the work was completed at home by the students, who wanted to present their finished Portfolios, regardless of the fact that they were not going to be evaluated in the same way they would have been if school were still in person.
I am so proud of the students: their artistry, their communication skills, and their ability to present their hearts and minds on paper.
I miss you very much, Periods 1, 5 and 6: Shockey's Army! I may never hold some of these Portfolios, and for some students Life got in the way and they were never finished. Who knew school would become distant, and paper would be unable to be shared?
